One way to make more money is by teaching classes in your area of expertise. Find a topic you're good at and like to talk about, and then develop a course for people interested in that subject. Teaching can be lucrative because it usually offers a lot of flexibility and independence as well as the opportunity to gain skills in a new area.

 

It all started with ...

It all started with a few Facebook posts. First, I posted I'll write 10 business letters for $5 each and got four offers right away. A week later, when my wife's car died and we needed money to fix it, I posted that again and made another $70 in two hours. Not bad!

 

Everyone can have an idea

This year, one of my ideas was to go around the streets with a power drill and offer to fix any holes people had in their walls. The rate would be 50 dollars per hour. I knew that this idea wasn't for everyone because it required me to do a lot of hard work, but it also required very little start-up capital or overhead. People were generally happy to pay for this service because it seemed worth it. If they didn't have time or energy to do it themselves.

 

You don’t need a lot of time

I wanted to find a simple way to make some extra money this year and decided that asking for a set fee of 50 dollars per hour seemed reasonable. With just three hours of work or about 100 dollars, a week for the whole year. I’ve already accomplished my goal!

You'll likely make less money in the beginning because clients are more willing to negotiate with someone who doesn't have much of a portfolio. But it will give you an idea of what types of work you enjoy and what types don't suit your strengths.
