Is 20 Dollars an Hour Good? The Answer Might Surprise You!

It’s important to also consider whether you like the work and want to continue doing it over the long term. If you’re just looking for an entry-level job or are trying to earn extra money in your spare time, then 20 dollars an hour could be just fine. If you’re thinking about switching careers, you should know whether or not your chosen field pays well before you decide on where to work. Read on to find out if your salary will be competitive when you look for a job in your chosen field.

The federal minimum wage in the United States, which was last raised in 2009, is $7.25 an hour. That number may seem low—and it sure does to many people who are struggling to make ends meet. But what if you hear that there’s a certain time of year when the minimum wage jumps up to $20 an hour? It sounds like something out of science fiction! But this phenomenon does happen and has been observed in several other countries around the world, too. If you thought $7.25 an hour was good, just wait until you hear about this...

1) How much do you think you should be paid?

I think people should be paid as much as they are worth to their employer. I would say that $8,000 per year is a good starting salary, but the number might change based on how many hours the person works. What's more important than the dollar amount is being happy with what you're making and feeling that your work has real value.

2) How many hours per week do you work?

First, let's get to the bottom of whether or not $8/hour is a decent hourly wage. $8/hour at 40 hours per week comes out to $320 per week. If you take your pre-tax wages and subtract the average cost of living in America ($1,479 for one person), that leaves you with about $339-$348 per month left over.

3) What tasks do you perform in your job?

I work at a local coffee shop. There are many different tasks I can do such as serving customers their coffee, taking out the trash, filling milk urns, and wiping down tables. I enjoy my job because the pay is really good ($20/hour) and there are so many different things to do. Some other perks of my job include getting discounts on pastries from the bakery next door and being surrounded by friends all day.

4) Are there other people doing similar jobs at your company?

My boss told me that I would be making 30 dollars an hour to start. But when I checked with another company that does that similar work as ours. They only pay their designers 20 dollars an hour. Is that too low? Some people might think so. For example, my car payment is now going to go up if the other company pays more than ours because now. I will be spending a larger percentage of my take-home pay on vehicle costs.

5) What equipment and supplies are required for your job?

If you plan on sewing, then you will need a sewing machine. For welding, you'll need safety equipment such as gloves and a welding mask. Woodworking also requires specialty tools, like chisels or planes. Textile workers require thread, needles, and scissors. These can be purchased at a craft store for relatively low prices. In many cases, it is more cost-effective to purchase your equipment rather than rent it from the company you work for. Lastly, all jobs require some form of transportation to get to the job site or location where the materials are located.

6) How valuable are you to your organization?

You might be surprised to know that some people think that 30 dollars an hour are good pay. However, it depends on where you are from and what type of work you do. For example, nurses make around 28 dollars an hour in the US and 21 dollars per hour in China. These numbers mean nothing. If you do not know how much money your living costs are or how much money you need to support your family. Where do I stand?

7) How important is hard work to succeeding in your job role?

The importance of hard work in succeeding in your job role depends on a few factors. I would say how many hours you work each week and how fast you complete. Your work is two factors that will have a significant impact on the answer to this question. When we just compare those two factors. I think most people will agree that 30 dollars per hour are better than 20 dollars per hour.

8) What skills or training do you need to perform your job well if any?

There are many skills and training you may need to perform your job well. When I work as a bartender. I know that one of the most important things is to know what drinks to recommend when someone asks me. A really good bartender also knows how to talk with customers, be attentive, and make eye contact.  Always aware of what everyone else is doing in the bar. If there are any problems or issues he can handle them before they become worse.
